Andrea de Chirico
Andrea de Chirico (°1990, IT) studied Industrial Design at ISIA in Rome and graduated from the Social Design department of the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2015. Since 2016, he is active as a lecturer and researcher on the topic of Design and Production at the University of Bolzano.
His practice is characterized by a hands-on approach and a main interest in local production and open source design. In his graduation project SUPERLOCAL, a 0 miles production, Andrea designed production lines in the town of Eindhoven, finding and connecting local resources, materials and labour in order to make everyday objects. By making the designs accessible for the public in an online database, he wants to provide people with the tools to re-create their world.
In June 2016, SUPERLOCAL was continued in London, in the context of a residency at the Design Museum. On the occasion of MANUFACTUUR 3.0, de Chirico will bring the project to Genk.
