Michael Sailstorfer (1979) is a German artist who lives and works in Berlin. He creates installations, sculptures and performances, and has been active on the international art scene since around 2000. He works with everyday objects, taking them of their usual contexts, carrying out interventions on them, and conceptualising or reanimating them.
Sailstorfer’s ‘Raketenbaum’ will be on show in the exhibition Alter Nature: We Can (21.11.2010-13.03.2011). This piece consists of a framed diptych with two different pictures of a performance in which a fruit tree is catapulted into the air. The first photo shows the tree in its usual standing position; the second photo shows the tree ‘flying’.
