Touching the Earth and the Sky
Touching the earth and the sky is an exhibition of Ronny Delrue where he not only shows drawings and paintings but also sculptures and landscapes. These reflect his themes even better and are a result of several working periodes in the EKWC and the FLACC.

'The Great Exhibition' is Ives Maes' first major solo exhibition. Based on a series of photos, the artist sketches a controversial portrait of an era by linking elements from science fiction films to the locations and remains of previous world exhibitions.

For the 13th time, Z33 and Design Platform Limburg organize TOEGEPAST (meaning: applied): a presentation of young design talents.
Jan Brouwers (PHL - graphic design), Katrien Matthys (St Lucas Gent – illustration), Jens Pieters (KdG/Sint Lucas Antwerpen - graphic design) en Vika Varhanava (PHL - graphic design) were coached by designer Bram Boo to create a new design project and present it, together with thier graduation works, in an exhibition and a catalogue.
Nr. 19 1% WATER
1% WATER aims to be a catalyst for change, reconnecting us physically and psychologically to water and helping us to shape a sustainable future. The exhibition explores themes such as AbUse, Sacred Waters and Reconnect through works by artists such as Atelier van Lieshout, Brandon Ballengée, Elina Brotherus, Edward Burtynsky, Amy Jenkins, Michaela Nettell and Studio Orta, designers such as &Made, Doshi Levien and Fulguro TJAW and graphic designers Karlssonwilker, as well as key historic pieces.
BRIDGE
The desire of the artist to stand in the middle of a lake, alone and surrounded by nothing but water, is the starting point for the exhibition BRIDGE.
Nr. 18 PLACE@SPACE-(re)shaping everyday life
In PLACE@SPACE – (re)shaping everyday life, Z33 takes a look at the relationship between people and their spatial environment, art and technology. People are creative in ‘customising’, personalising and reorganising spaces every day to make spaces personal and intelligible to them. They make their own blogs, decorate their living rooms and follow their own route when walking through the city.
Nr. 17 SLOW
Under the title SLOW, Marina Yee created six installations for Z33 and presents works of other artists that were a source of inspiration to her own work.
Marina Yee (°1958, Temse) feels the need to have us dwell upon the beauty of things around us. She creates at a slow, more conscious pace.
With this attitude she places herself outside her original environment, that is to say, outside the regular fashion circuit.

Nr. 16 STUDIO JOB
This summer, Z33 will be the first to present an extensive exhibition entirely devoted to designer duo Studio Job. With this project, Z33 is continuing its journey in the borderlands between visual art and design. Job Smeets (1970, Hamont-Achel) and Nynke Tynagel (1977, Bergeijk), who make up Studio Job, see themselves as designers by virtue of their study at the Design Academy Eindhoven, but they prefer the freedom of the arts above the restrictions of mass production. The exhibition, that is simply called No.
Nr. 15 DESIGNING CRITICAL DESIGN
For the DESIGNING CRITICAL DESIGN exhibition, Z33 has invited Martí Guixé (E), Jurgen Bey (NL) en Fiona Raby & Anthony Dunne (UK), designers who are all known for their critical attitude towards mainstream product design.
SUSPENDED MOMENT
For THE SUSPENDED MOMENT curator Hilde Teerlinck selected some of the extraordinary pieces from the prestigious H&F Collection belonging to the Dutch writer Han Nefkens. All the pieces are references to very precise moments in time and space, but they also transmit a universal message. This delicate balance between life in all its rawness and a state of suspension, invites the viewer to take a closer look. Each work holds its breath. For a moment, time stands still.
Nr. 14 LIGHT PLAY
Nr. 14 LIGHT PLAY revolves round the themes of light, space and time. The exhibition space ‘Vleugel '58’ (‘Wing ’58’) at the art centre Z33 enjoys an exceptional incidence of light and outstanding spatial proportions: characteristics that sparked off the project LIGHT PLAY.
Nr. 13 WONDERKAMERS - AFTER CAGE
Following the example of John Cage's Rolywholyover A Circus from 1992/93, four Euroregional institutions - Z33 in Hasselt, Neuer Aachener Kunstverein in Aachen, Espace Nord 251 in Liège an Marres in Maastricht - are organising the 'After Cage' project in the summer of 2006. Just like Cage, the four participating partner institutions are putting together a joint collection of objects from 24 museums in the Euroregion. From this collection, guest curators will make a first selection of objects for their Wunderkammer.
POWER PLAYS - Interior Desires, Exterior Spaces
Power Plays, an initiative of the Platform Limburg Beeldende Kunsten, sets up an experimental study into the various powers that hold sway in the region and beyond. Power Plays makes use of the presentation of art on location to drive dialogue and discussion. Artists of all kinds will translate social issues into artistic acts all over the provincie of Limburg. Nr. 12 EXCES
In No. 12 EXCESS, Z33 examines the way the media relate to our bodies, goes in search of the images behind the reality and probes for the feeling behind these images. The exhibition shows both mediated images and unmediated, unspectacular images that are unreachable, that maybe haven't been made yet, that have been forgotten or amateur images. It places the ongrowing image flow in newspapers, on television and on the internet within a broader perspective. Curator is Pieter Van Bogaert.
SCENTS:LOCKS:KISSES
MAIL-ART is an exhisting transnational network of artists working with different means of communication (mail, fax, phone, internet, …). Curator Guy Bleus invites several hundreds of artists from Limburg and abroad to particpate.
Nr. 11 ON PEOPLE AND THINGS
In the houses of the Beguinage (not the rooms of the museum), Z33 is creating an exhibition circuit on the relationship between fine and applied art, as part of Super!, Hasselt's first contemporary visual arts, fashion and design triennial.
Nr. 10 NEVER LEFT RIGHT
Most people know Gert Robijns from the installations he first presented at Watou and at "Over the Edges" in Ghent: "Speedy, Take it Easy" and "Attend (Wait)". But these installations are only a small part of his work, which has since expanded greatly. It is for this reason that Z33 is presenting the first Gert Robijns retrospective, called No. 10 NEVER LEFT RIGHT.
Nr. 9 EINDHOVEN-LUIK
N°. 9 EINDHOVEN - LUIK shows a selection from the sizeable oeuvre of the Dutch architect and artist John Körmeling and the results of the three commissions he received from Z33.
FREESPACE LIMBURG 2005
FREESPACE LIMBURG 2005 wants to stimulate an interaction between artists and artists' organizations. Local artists are invited to cooperate with an artist who has participated in FREESPACE LIMBURG before.
From the 13th of February until the 1st of May, together these 'couples' will take up six rooms in Z33. In a first period, local artists, will present their works in the beguinage houses: Marcel Hoeben, Caroline Coolen, Raymond Minnen, Ignace Van Ingelgom and Virginie Bailly.

LIVING IN MOTION, a travelling exhibition by the Vitra Design museum (Weil am Rhein, Germany), shows different mobile and flexible dwellings through out time.
FREESPACE LIMBURG 2004
With FREESPACE LIMBURG the Platform Beeldende Kunsten Limburg gives (international) artists the opportunity and the place to make and exhibit a new project. FREESPACE LIMBURG stimulates the interaction amongst artists and between artists and visitors. In this edition of FREESPACE this interaction is initiated by a FREESPACE collection on the one hand and by an 'artist cooking' on the other hand.
Nr. 7 COSMOPOLITAN CHICKEN PROJECT: RED JUNGLE FOWL - GENUS XY
For the first time in his carreer Koen Vanmechelen presents all steps of his COSMOPOLITAN CHICKEN PROJECT in an exhibition, billboards, talks, debates, movies, ...
Some years ago the artist Koen Vanmechelen started breeding new varieties of chicken: crossing international chickens which are national symbols in their respective countries of origin. For example, he crossed the Mechelen Koekoek with the Poulet de Bresse to create the Mechelen Bresse, which he first presented at Z33 (then still called PCBK) in 1999.

FEEL is a three-part exhibition and several side projects focussing on the tactile experience in early and present-day new media art.
