BIO WARD JANSSEN
Ward Janssen (Haarlem, 1981) studied at AKV St Joost. For Cicada Studio, the Film + Design Festival and the Huis voor Beeldcultuur he made film programmings and exhibitions with emphasis on experimental film, crossovers between film and design, fashion and digital art. He has been working at MOTI since 2014, Museum of the Image and he was curator of the exhibition 'Born Digital', about a new generation of digital artists, and 'Planet Hype', about the cultural relevance of hypes in our media culture. Outside the exhibitions he writes for MOTI on new phenomena in the visual culture and new media and he is engaged in the purchase of (mostly) digital collection pieces for the museum.
DESIGN MY PRIVACY
Nowadays, we continually share data: a message via WhatsApp, a picture on Instagram, an update on Facebook or an e-mail through Gmail. With whom do we really share this data? And how can we make sure that our personal data stay strictly personal?
This exhibition addresses issues of online privacy and digital surveillance. Next to several historical examples of encrypting, ‘Design my Privacy’ also shows some surprising contemporary strategies by more than 35 young designers and artists to maintain control over our data.
