Nikki Gonnissen co-founded Thonik, a design agency for visual communication, in 1993. Initially operating in the cultural sector (publishers, museums, cultural foundations and events), since 2003 its work expanded to include institutions in the field of politics and management. Thonik now has 16 employees. Recent clients include the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, the Venice Architecture Biennale 2008, the Socialist Party (SP), the Amsterdam Public Library and the Spiral Art Centre Tokyo.
Thonik is characterised by its clear design language and focus on content, combining a conceptual design method with an emphasis on typography. Over the last two years, Thonik has put its graphic language and methods to work in multimedia campaigns for major clients ranging from the radio and television network VPRO to the national newspaper NRC.
A-Z lectures take place on Tuesday at Zebrazaal at Z33.
