Kurina Sohn (South Korea,1991) is a multidisciplinary designer based in Amsterdam. She holds a MA degree in Contextual Design (2019) from Design Academy Eindhoven and a BFA degree in Fiber Art (2015) at the Maryland Institute College of Art. In addition to building her artistic practice, Kurina is a lecturer in Crossmedia design at AKI ArtEZ. Through tools and technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, and installation, her creative work and conceptual research explores unknown aspects of the natural world, particularly the underwater habitats of deep-ocean marine life. The central focus is to investigate conventional notions of nature by depicting how technology might perceive, experience, and interpret elements of the natural world.
