About

1978 / België

Thomas Baeté took gambal lessons with none other than Wieland Kuijken, Jordi Savall, Sophie Watillon and Pedro Memelsdorff. He then took master classes and internships with Paolo Pandolfo and Sigiswald Kuijken.

As a gambist, Thomas performed with renowned groups such as Mala Punica (Pedro Memelsdorff), Graindelavoix (Björn Schmelzer). He has been a guest with the baroque orchestras La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken), Collegium Vocale (Philippe Herreweghe) and Les Agrémens and has also appeared on stage in dance productions ‘FOI’ by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and ‘En Atendant’ by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. He is also a regular member of The Spirit of Gambo and Romina Lischka’s Hathor Ensemble.

Thomas founded two ensembles, where he further explores his passions. ClubMediéval specialises in late medieval music, while Transports Publics focuses on 17th-century chamber music.
