Eyetracking research
How do you look at colour in art?
How do you look at art? And how do you look at colour? This is what Z33 is investigating in collaboration with the Laboratory of Experimental Psychology at KULeuven.
The art of looking
Exactly how you look at art is very personal. But what if you have not just one colour, but a range of iridescent colours like in the expo Colour. Seeing beyond pigment? To learn more about that viewing behaviour towards structural colours, we use eye-tracking glasses to record eye movements during a visit to the exhibition. Afterwards, a short questionnaire polls visitors’ experience.
Would you like to participate?
You can. You can visit Z33 between 16 May and 24 August. You reserve a time slot on a day that is convenient for you. Count around 45 to 60 minutes for this.
Some conditions
- You do not look up any information about the artworks or the study beforehand and you have not yet seen the exhibition Colour. Seeing beyond pigment. An unbiased view is important for reliable results.
- You are 17 years of age or older
- You have normal or corrected vision (glasses or contact lenses are allowed)
- For people with glasses strength between -5.0 and +3.0 dioptres, the eye-tracker has adjustable lenses. Do you have a stronger spectacle correction? Then you can only participate with contact lenses.
This study is a collaboration between KU Leuven’s Laboratory of Experimental Psychology and Z33 – House for Contemporary Art, Design & Architecture, and is conducted under the supervision of Dr. Stefanie De Winter and Prof. Dr. Johan Wagemans.
