Filmconcert with Miaux: Carnival of Souls
Miaux performs a new live soundtrack for the cult classic Carnival of Souls (1962). This mysterious psychological thriller by Herk Harvey not only served as an inspiration for director David Lynch but also for the Antwerp-based composer.
The film follows Mary Henry, a church organist who survives a deadly accident and moves to Salt Lake City. There, she becomes obsessed with an abandoned amusement pavilion and is haunted by “The Man,” played by director Harvey himself. While the original soundtrack is filled with church organs, Miaux replaces this with analog synthesizers, which she plays live.
This film concert was commissioned by Arts Center VIERNULVIER and Film Festival Ghent for Videodroom.
