Kunstennacht 2026

This year’s annual cultural highlight in Hasselt promises to be extra special at Z33. Alongside three exhibitions, you’ll discover the future of Belgian jazz with Anaïs Vijgen.

Especially for this evening, we’re opening two new exhibitions: a solo presentation by gabi dao and a brand-new collaboration with KNST, alongside the ongoing group exhibition ‘Before our eyes’. For Klara, Anaïs Vijgen is one of the young voices shaping the future of Belgian jazz — and Kunstennacht is the perfect moment to discover her breathtaking voice live.

Concert

Anaïs Vijgen Band
With her clear and powerful voice, jazz singer and composer Anaïs Vijgen immediately captivates her audience. At the age of 24, she is already being hailed by Klara as one of the young talents who will shape the future of Belgian jazz. With her quintet, she performs her own compositions in which improvisation and rhythm set the tone. Intimate, compelling and accessible.

Exhibition

Before our eyes

The exhibition Before Our Eyes brings together ten (inter)national artists who reflect on seeing, bearing witness and the responsibility of images in times of violence.

gabi dao

In gabi dao’s work, fear and fantasy surrounding interspecies mixing take centre stage. By forming empathetic alliances with animals such as mosquitoes or bats, dao draws parallels between stories that demonise these animals and narratives surrounding racialised, queer and trans communities.

Exhibition KNST:  ‘Anderland’

The KNST teachers are organising their exhibition during Kunstennacht. Anderland depicts a place that does not exist, a colourful landscape where you can dream about forms and matter.
