Raphaela Vogel
Z33 presents the first Belgian institutional solo exhibition of the German artist Raphaela Vogel (°1988). Vogel’s exhibition will include a major new commission developed specifically for the galleries of Francesca Torzo’s exhibition Wing.
Raphaela Vogel first became known in the international art world for her dizzying video installations which deploy non-traditional video equipment such as drones, 360 degree selfie-sticks or 3D Scanners. Vogel’s warped video landscapes create a space of metamorphosis where human, animal and architecture blend into beastly, new configurations. Set to hypnotizing soundtracks and vocal performances, Vogel often features in her videos as protagonist.
Vogel often works across different media within installations that combine monumental found objects and sensitively crafted sculptures and paintings. With deadpan humor, Vogel channels the anarchistic and joyous spirit of punk rock into her theatrical, all-consuming exhibitions.
