Verschooren

Karen Verschooren is a contemporary art and design curator based in Belgium. She worked as Head of Exhibitions for STUK Arts Centre in Leuven, Belgium where she is responsible for the exhibitions programme including ARTEFACT: a contemporary arts exhibition and festival on visual culture, topical events and societal challenges.
From October 2008 – March 2015, she worked as a curator/project coordinator for Z33 House for Contemporary Art in Hasselt, Belgium. Recent exhibitions include John Akomfrah – Auto Da Fé (2016), ARTEFACT: Up in the Air (2016), Bjørn Melhus – The Theory of Freedom (2015), Future Fictions (2014), Design Beyond Production (2013), Mind the System, Find the Gap (2012), Food Forward (2012), Alter Nature (2010-2011) and Work Now (2009).
Between 2008 and 2012 Verschooren chaired the Flemish Committee for Audiovisual and Experimental Media Arts. She holds a Master degree in Communication Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven (2004), a Master degree in Cultural Sciences from the Free University of Brussels (2005) and a Master of Science in Comparative Media Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2007), Cambridge USA.
