Victor Papanek: The Politics of Design
in C-Mine, Genk (BE)
Can design make a difference? According to designer and activist Victor J. Papanek (1923 – 1998) this was not a question but a necessity. His book “Design for the Real World: Human Ecology and Social Design” was published in 1970, but fifty years later it is still hyper-actual. He pleads for design for the “real world”, which offers an answer to social equality, inclusiveness and sustainability. The exhibition is more than a retrospective of Papanek’s life and work. In the visually appealing expo, you will also discover many examples of young, contemporary social designers.
