Artist Talk: A conversation with Revital Cohen & Tuur Van Balen
All horses are sculptures.
In the work of Tuur Van Balen and Revital Cohen, everything is connected. Revital and Tuur will talk about their work and working, if one can be known from the other. The lecture will consider repetitions, iterations, permutations, situations, speculations, the spectres of twenty dead goldfish and a champagne coloured horse. From mining virtuality in DR Congo to constructing political realities within Macau’s casinos, from rehearsing an exhibition to choreographing an assembly line; the artists’ process based practice forms a point of departure from which to speak of friction, entanglement, porousness, reflection and self implication. Revital and Tuur’s final question will be answered by Joery Erna, researcher and visual artist at LUCA School of Arts campus C-mine.
This Artist Talk connects to the exhibition Palms Palms by Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen, on view from Sunday 4 October to Sunday 31 January 2021. The Artist Talks are a collaboration of Z33 with PXL MAD School of Arts, LUCA School of Arts campus C-Mine and UHasselt Faculty of Architecture and Art.
