Architecture lecture and young talent at Z33's first nocturne
Every second Thursday of the month, Z33 opens its doors. Starting at 6 p.m., you can visit all exhibitions for free and we provide a variety of activities each month. This month: an architecture lecture, young talent taking in the chapel.
Architectural Lecture Room New Perspectives
The beguinage at Z33 will soon have a completely new look. Bovenbouw Architectuur in collaboration with David Kohn Architects was commissioned to transform the historic site. Bovenbouw Architectuur is also curating the exhibition Composite Presence, which you can visit for free on this evening.
Architectenhuiskamer is curious to see how the new architecture campus will be realized within the familiar walls of the beguinage. In this lecture, Carole Boeckx, project architect for Bovenbouw Architectuur, will explain the development trajectory of the site, and her story will focus heavily on our new home for architecture. Architect Lukas Claessens created an artwork for Z33 in 2019 about the vanished beguinage church, which he will briefly explain during this lecture.

Lazaretto Volontario
Artists Lieve Kauwenberghs, Milan Gillard and Annelies Clerix will present their project Lazaretto Volontario, part of Blikkenwerpers, during this nocturne. The project is about the co-creation of eight artists from different disciplines. They question various topics such as isolation, collaboration and co-creation. How does collaboration hold up against the passage of time? Is co-creation the preferred method for artists? What does an isolated location have to offer for the production of art? They show their work in the chapel integrated into Z33’s building. The chapel is rarely open to the public, so Lazaretto Volontario is a unique opportunity to visit it. Cost of lecture: 10 euros / reduced rate 5 euros for – 26 years, persons with disabilities, teachers’ card, UitPAS Hasselt and groups from 10 persons.
During this nocturne, all exhibitions of Z33, including Lazaretto Volontario, are accessible for free from 18h00 to 22h00.
