Steve Robyns (1981) is a maker, designer and artist fascinated by exploring the universe, the lure of the unknown and the evolution of humanity.
Robyns wonders how we can build a new place for ourselves outside of this world and what it might look like. The title Into The Unknown refers both to his own artistic quest and to the human urge to explore unknown and alien worlds.
Robyns’ work is permeated by the deep intrest for materials, production techniques and space travel. For him, making and thinking are equal, and the investigation of materials and techniques is as important as the final form and function of his creations. In his unconventional utilitarian objects, there is always room for the viewer to finalize the object. Through their actions, users add final functionalities and proportions to Robyns’ work.
At Z33, Robyns presents his first solo exhibition, in collaboration with Kunstenwerkplaats VONK.
