Festival of Architecture 2021
Italian architect Francesca Torzo constructed a building that meets the needs and DNA of Z33. She did not create a white cube art institution, but a work house, with spaces in which things are allowed to happen. Come and discover it for yourself on 17 October during Architecture Day.
We will be putting our building and its surroundings in the spotlight! Are you curious about how the Beguinage will look in the future? In our entrance hall you can discover what the architects from Bovenbouw have designed using a scale model. We also have 58 models made by architecture students at UHasselt. Would you like to immerse yourself in our architecture? The audio tour lets you dwell on the key elements of architects Francesca Torzo (Vleugel 19) and Gustaaf Daniëls (Vleugel 58). Do you prefer a more personal story? A Dutch-speaking architecture guide takes you behind the scenes of the exhibition In the Eye of the Storm. You can also discover Z33 on your own. We drew an exclusive route through the exhibitions and behind the scenes. Catch a glimpse of what the building normally doesn’t show.
Practical info
For the activities in the public areas you do not need to make a reservation, you can just come by. For the activities in the exhibition areas below, you need to make a reservation before:
- Regular visit: an exclusive route through and behind the scenes of the exhibition and the architecture. Book a time slot for this since spaces are limited.
- Visit with audio tour: a route focusing on the architecture of Z33. Book a time slot for this. Audio sets are available upon arrival.
- Guided tour: focus on the architecture and any highlights from the exhibitions. Departure at 11:00, 13:00 or 15:00. Register via this link: you pay the guide in advance. Look in your confirmation e-mail for the details.
From 14 to 17 October 2021 the Flemish Architecture Institute will be organising the Festival of Architecture (F/a). On Sunday they will be highlighting a few architectural gems, including the building of Z33. Click on this link for more information about the festival.
