Z33 nominated for Mies van der Rohe Award
Early February, the European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe announced the first list of nominees for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022. Z33 also has a chance to win the prestigious award. The design by architect Francesca Torzo for the new exhibition wing Wing 19 was highly praised by the jury.
The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture or Mies van der Rohe Award is a prize awarded once every two years by the European Union and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe for the best qualitative architectural contribution in Europe.
Besides Z33, 20 other Belgian projects have been nominated. The list of all nominees can be found on the website of the Mies van der Rohe Award. A second round of nominations will follow in September, with projects that have started more recently.
It is not the first time that our new exhibition wing has been noticed. Previously, architect Francesca Torzo won the Italian Architecture Prize and Z33 was nominated for Archdaily’s ‘Building of the Year’.
